What the notice says

Conditions and details taken from the official notice that the table above does not show. Read the notice itself before bidding.

  • Accepted payment forms are certified cheque, money order, bank draft, debit card and cash; credit cards are never accepted.
  • Payments made at a financial institution need about four business days before being applied to the tax account.
  • Owners can pay arrears up to the morning of the sale, so properties may be withdrawn from the list until then.
  • Bidders must research the condition of premises and buildings, charges and restrictions themselves before the sale.
  • If the buyer fails to pay immediately, the property is re-offered and the defaulting buyer must pay any shortfall in the new price.
  • GST and QST apply to these sales; registered buyers must provide their registration numbers at the time of adjudication.
  • Bidders must register on the morning of the sale with a registration form and photo ID such as a driver's licence, health card or passport.
  • Any excess payment is refunded by City cheque within 10 days of adjudication, without interest.
  • The buyer takes possession immediately but the property can be redeemed within one year, and the buyer may not remove wood or buildings during that year.
  • The property is sold as is at the time of adjudication, with no warranty of area, soil quality or building quality, at the buyer's own risk.
  • From the adjudication date the buyer assumes all environmental liability for the property, including cleanup of pollutants, toxic substances and hazardous waste.
  • A person bidding on behalf of someone else must provide proof of authority, such as a power of attorney, mandate or certified corporate resolution.
  • Corporate bidders must declare their representative's name and their Québec enterprise number (NEQ) before the person conducting the sale.
  • Properties are sold in the order shown in the public notice and awarded to the highest bidder.
